  In his aim to modernise Morocco, boost the economy and improve the quality of life for Moroccans across the country, King Mohammed has a vision to attract more foreign direct investment into the country and increase the number of tourists.



The graph above displays the results found in research carried out by the European University Institute (2006) and shows that since 1998, tourism to Morocco has mostly been rising. The recorded number of foreign visitors in 2004 was 2,747,347. The existing solid tourism base yields between 80-90% rental occupancy during the high season, the period during which most return is gained on investment.
