Egypt is still an emerging market in terms of property investment and sourcing mortgages. There are a few mortgages available to foreigners however, things are set to change very soon as the market is opening up and becoming more competitive. Egyptian banks are beginning to realise the potential and react to the demand created by the increasing number of foreigners buying property. Currently, foreigners purchasing property in Egypt do so by raising the finance by borrowing against an existing property in their home country as it works out econcomically better than a mortgage in Egypt.
